Compare Files, Folders
Beyond Compare allows you to quickly and easily compare your files and
folders. By using simple, powerful commands you can focus on the
differences you're interested in and ignore those you're not. You can then
merge the changes, synchronize your files, and generate reports for your
records.
You can compare entire drives and folders at high speed, checking just sizes
and modified times. Or, thoroughly verify every file with byte-by-byte
comparisons. FTP sites and zip files are integrated seamlessly, so you can
update your website with the touch of a button.
Once you've found specific files you're interested in, Beyond Compare can
intelligently pick the best way to compare and display them. Text files
can be viewed and edited with syntax highlighting and comparison rules tweaked
specifically for documents, source code, and HTML. Data files,
executables, binary data, and images all have dedicated
viewers as well, so you always have a clear view of the changes.

BC3 has two editions, Standard and Pro. The Standard Edition is
a powerful, full-featured
comparison tool. The Pro Edition includes all the Standard features
plus additional
advanced features.

The Standard Edition of Beyond Compare is a powerful, full-featured
comparison tool. The Pro Edition includes all the Standard features
and adds these:
- 3-way text merging
Compares independent changes against
a common ancestor to create new merged content.
- Source control integration
Adds commands for checking
files in or out of SCC-compliant version control systems.
- Built-in SFTP support
Rather than relying on third-party
solutions, BC3 Pro has integrated support for secure FTP protocols (SFTP and FTP
over SSL).
- Text replacements
Lets you flag certain text
replacements as unimportant differences in a Text Compare session. For
example, ignore all instances where apple was replaced by orange.
- Folder Compare alignment overrides
Overrides how files
are aligned in a Folder Compare session. For example, you could compare
your .gif files on one side with .png files of the same name on the other side.
In trial mode you can use both Standard and Pro features. Upon
registering, the license key unlocks the appropriate features permanently.
If you choose the Standard Edition license, you can upgrade later to Pro for
the difference in price.
BC3 is available for Windows as
well as several popular Linux
distributions. The Linux and Windows platform licenses are priced the
same.
If you want to use BC on both platforms, you can buy a Dual Platform
